TechTalks Technology Meetings

BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE) regularly organises events at Ankara BİLGEM TechTalks Hall in order to strengthen the software developer capability, which is one of the foundations of the National Technology Move. BİLGEM TechTalks is a special series of events where those interested in the world of technology and software come together and where information sharing and inspiration are at the forefront.

In each event, BİLGEM TechTalks focuses on delving deeper into technology, exploring the latest software development trends, and addressing the issues shaping the technological world of the future. In the Technology Meetings organised by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute, in June, in cooperation with PMI Türkiye, our experienced project manager Burak Oluroğulları will make a presentation titled "The Basics of Project Management Office Setup". In the presentation, the critical steps in the establishment process of a successful Project Management Office (PMO) will be discussed. The factors that ensure the success of the PMO will be explained with strategic tips on basic issues such as how to operate the PMO effectively from the beginning.

The thirteenth TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most up-to-date and common applications in software technologies are shared by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE), was held on 18 September 2024.

At the event, our expert researcher Ahmet SAY presented “Don’t Write Password to Code: Secret Management in Kubernetes” presentation was made. With the GitOps approach, modern software infrastructure is managed through ‘Git’ and is built on Kubernetes. This method facilitates configuration management in complex applications, but keeping sensitive information in the code repository can lead to security vulnerabilities. In the presentation, the installation and use of ‘Sealed Secrets’ and ‘Vault’ tools for secure management of passwords were examined and the level of meeting the needs with various configurations was mentioned.

The twelfth TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most up-to-date and common applications in software technologies are shared by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE), was held on 21 August 2024. At the event, Deren Toy from our Technology Alliance team made a presentation titled “Distributed Database Solution of the Modern Age: CockroachDB” presentation was made.

The changing demands of the digital age require innovative approaches in database technologies. In this presentation, the features of CockroachDB, which offers high performance, accessibility and flexible scalability, and the transition of ‘Spring Boot’ projects using PostgreSQL to CockroachDB were discussed. Participants learnt about the evolution of databases, the concept of NewSQL and the advantages of CockroachDB.

The eleventh TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most up-to-date and common applications in software technologies are shared, was held on 24 July 2024 by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE). 2024 tarihinde düzenlendi. 

In the event, our experienced researcher Berkan YILDIRIM made a presentation titled “Storage Orchestration on Kubernetes with Rook”. The “Rook” operator, which provides automatic management of storage resources and high data security by providing a powerful storage solution with “Ceph”, was explained to the participants with the real experiences gained at our Institute. At the end of the presentation, basic information about “PV, PVC, StorageClass, CSI” concepts and “Rook” operator and “Ceph” installation and usage were also mentioned.

The ninth TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most up-to-date and common applications in software technologies are shared by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE), was held on 24 May 2024. was organised on In the event, Technical Leader Emre Savcı from Trendyol Group, a well-known name in the software industry, made a presentation titled "Scalable Software Architecture with Go".

In the event, our guest presenter talked about the structural processes of projects to be developed with Hexagonal Architecture and "Go" language, as well as the issues that should be considered in architectural design using Domain Driven Design. At the end of the presentation, the participants were informed about the distribution of responsibilities to packages or layers, inter-layer dependencies, abstractions and behavioural design.

The eighth TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most up-to-date and widespread applications in software technologies are shared by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE), was held on 26 April 2024. At the event, Yasin Herken from our Technology Alliance team made a presentation titled "Synchronous and Asynchronous Challenges in Microservices".

The presentation discussed the misconfigurations in communication methods in microservice architecture and the challenges this poses. It also provided an in-depth look at the advantages and potential pitfalls of each of the synchronous and asynchronous communication approaches through real-world scenarios. By examining the impact of these communication vulnerabilities on system performance, scalability and reliability, recommendations were shared to develop more robust and effective communication strategies in microservice architectures.

The seventh TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most up-to-date and widespread applications in software technologies are shared by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE), was held on February 23, 2024. During the event, Özay Duman from our Technology Alliance team made a presentation titled "Augmented Reality".

Augmented Reality enriches our reality by seamlessly integrating digital information into our surroundings, while Virtual Reality focuses on completely simulated environments, and Mixed Reality allows us to interact with digital elements by combining both. The event provided information about the different features of AR, VR, and MR, their application areas, and their transformative potential in various industries, highlighting the profound changes in how we interact with digital and physical worlds through cutting-edge solutions.

BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings - 26 January 2024

The sixth edition of the TechTalks Technology Meetings event, where the most current and widespread applications in software technologies are shared, was organized by BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE) on January 26, 2024.

During the event, a presentation titled "Web Assembly and Rust was delivered by Berat Bayram from our Technology Alliance team. The presentation covered what Web Assembly and Rust are, how they can be utilized, the advantages they provide, and information on which major companies in the industry are currently using these technologies for what purposes.

Additionally, the presentation discussed experiments conducted based on the topics covered and the performance enhancements provided by JavaScript. The event was available for live streaming on YouTube.

BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings - 14 December 2023

BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE) organized the fifth edition of the TechTalks Technology Meetings event on December 14, 2023, where the latest and widespread applications in software technologies were shared.

In the event, the topic "Tekton in the Cloud Native CI/CD World" was addressed by the DevOps Culture Technology Alliance. The presentation began with defining cloud native and CI/CD, and then covered the fundamental concepts of Tekton, an innovative approach in the CI/CD tools landscape.

Continuing the presentation, a comparison between Cloud Native CI/CD and Argo Workflows was made, with a focus on the advantages of Tekton Hub. This comparison provided insights into the advantages and disadvantages of modern tools. The event was accessible for live viewing on YouTube.

BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings - 24 October 2023

BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE) organised another TechTalks Technology Meetings event on 24 October 2023 to share the latest developments in the software world.

In two featured sessions, "Log Management, Search and Visualization with ElasticStack: Real-World Examples" and "Common Mistakes in Team Building and Management: How to Avoid" were discussed.

The audience saw real-world examples of log management, search and visualization by exploring the features of Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana. There were also tutorials on team dynamics and how to counter management malpractice. The event was streamed live on YouTube.

BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings - 12 September 2023

BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE) organised an inspiring event for those who want to discover the current innovations of the software world.

In the first session "How to Test Architectural Integrity: ArchUnit" topic was discussed. ArchUnit tool used in software projects to test the code for compliance with architectural rules was analysed.

The second session focused on "Requirements for Enterprise Agility." In this session, the importance of agility and organizational readiness was emphasized. In addition, the increase in efficiency brought by agility to business processes was discussed.

BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings - 25 July 2023

BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE) hosted another inspiring BİLGEM TechTalks event on the future of the software world.

In the first session of the event, the impact of artificial intelligence tools on software development processes was analysed under the title "Software World Reshaped by AI." While artificial intelligence offers the potential to revolutionise many areas from error detection to code generation, the participants shared this exciting journey.

In the second session "GraphQL" was focussed on the subject. In the session where GraphQL's structure and usage examples that provide flexibility and efficiency were conveyed to the participants, the advantages of API query and processing language were revealed.

BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings - 8 December 2022

BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute hosted the participants at the BİLGEM TechTalks hall in TÜBİTAK Çukurambar for the first BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Meetings event.

At the event, Technology Associations, consisting of R&D employees, made a series of interesting presentations in teams about the latest technologies and applications in the software world. During the presentations, the participants learnt about many topics ranging from Java 8 to Java 17, basic application development with Golang, DevOps culture and drone simulation software.

Afterwards, the presentations made by the Technology Union teams were presented to the audience for evaluation and plaques were presented to the selected teams. The event, which took place with great participation and interest, gave the news that the Technology Meetings events will continue in the future.

Starting from the understanding that "the most important resource of a country is generally people, specifically scientists," TÜBİTAK encourages and supports our youth from an early age. Application Conditions
  • Students enrolled in undergraduate (2nd year and above) and associate degree programs in departments offering education in universities and conducting insurance procedures through the higher education institution to which they are affiliated can benefit from the internship opportunity.
  • For undergraduate and associate degree students, a minimum Weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 out of 4 is required. The GPA of candidates with a 100-point system is converted to a 4-point system based on the "Conversion Table of Grades from the 4-Point System to the 100-Point System" published by the Higher Education Council.
  • There is no requirement for a foreign language certificate during the internship application process.
  • Students enrolled in departments such as Forensic Computing Engineering, Computer Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer and Informatics, Computer and Software Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, Control and Computer Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, or Software Engineering in universities can apply for internships.

Internship applications are accepted between December and January, and the internship period covers June, July, and August.

Scholar

Scholar assignments are made for research and development activities for undergraduate, master's, doctoral students, and post-doctoral researchers. In our center, scholars are appointed for practical purposes in externally funded, TARAL, or European Union projects.

Application Conditions

(1) The conditions for undergraduate scholars in externally funded projects conducted by the institution are specified below:

  •  Being a student continuing undergraduate education at higher education institutions established in Turkey (excluding foreign language preparatory students).
  • Having a weighted cumulative GPA for previous years, excluding preparatory years, based on the university's grading system, which satisfies the formula score and foreign language requirements in the recruitment criteria.
  • Completing at least the first semester of the first year of undergraduate education.
  • Having a GPA of "+3.00" and a University Placement Exam Ranking of "10,000 ≥" for undergraduate general average.
  • For foreign students placed in Turkish universities without taking the ÖSYM exam or for those who completed undergraduate education through exams such as Vertical Transfer Exam, the lowest university placement ranking of the department from the year the candidate started the undergraduate program is considered in the ranking formula.

(2) The conditions for master's degree scholars in externally funded projects conducted by the institution are specified below:

  • Being a student continuing master's degree education at higher education institutions established in Turkey (excluding special students and foreign language preparatory students).
  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in the project's field of responsibility.

(3) The conditions for doctoral students in externally funded projects conducted by the institution are specified below:

  • Being a student continuing doctoral education at higher education institutions established in Turkey (excluding special students and foreign language preparatory students).
  • Currently pursuing a doctorate in the project's field of responsibility or conducting a doctorate in areas determined within the framework of the YÖK-TÜBİTAK Doctoral Program Project Collaboration Protocol. (Students in medical specialization and artistic proficiency are accepted as doctoral students.)

Candidate Researcher

Students in the 3rd and 4th years of relevant engineering departments at universities can apply to our Part-Time Candidate Researcher positions through our Job Application System at kariyer.tubitak.gov.tr. By doing so, they can gain work experience at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM during their university years.

This program does not have an end date. Candidate Researcher personnel working part-time during their university period can seamlessly transition to full-time employment as Researcher personnel at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM without interrupting their career journey after graduating from the undergraduate program.

Conditions for the Candidate Researcher Program:

  • Being a 3rd or 4th-year student in the relevant departments specified in the announcements at universities.
  • Foreign language proficiency: Achieving appropriate scores in the exam types specified in the announcement or studying in a program that is 100% in English for undergraduate education.

MILSEC 4 - Secure IP Terminal

While the MİLSEC-4 terminal offers an up-to-date solution for next-generation secure communication (voice, data and video) in IP networks, it provides an uninterrupted communication service by maintaining the compatibility of secure voice communication in PSTN networks with PSTN secure phones in use.

Configuration, surveillance and software update processes of MILSEC-4 terminals are carried out securely remotely using the Security Management Center (GYM). MİLSEC-4 terminal is capable of IP Network Key Loading (IPAAY) through secure communication with GYM without the need for an additional device.
