Türkiye's first indigenous and national civil surveillance radar system, MGR (National Surveillance Radar), developed in cooperation with TÜBİTAK BİLGEM and State Airports Authority (DHMI), will be operational at Gaziantep Airport. With the National Surveillance Radar, which will ensure the safe and secure management of the intense air traffic in our airspace, the airspace will be monitored 24/7 with a radar range of 112 kilometers (60NM) for primary surveillance radar system and 370 kilometers (200NM) for secondary surveillance radar system.
What is MGR?
MGR (National Surveillance Radar) is an air traffic surveillance radar/sensor system developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM in collaboration with DHMİ (General Directorate of State Airports Authority) to provide air traffic control functions. The system consists of PSR (Primary Surveillance Radar) and MSSR (Mode-S Secondary Surveillance Radar). The MGR (National Surveillance Radar) System Project has been initiated to meet the modernization requirements of the State Airports Authority's existing and future PSR and MSSR needs with national and indigenous capabilities. The installation of the radar system, which is being developed in two stages as PSR and Mode-S SSR, has been completed at the Gaffur Baba Campus at Gaziantep Oğuzeli Airport.
