Innovative Approaches in the Public: Development of Big Data Policies Project (KamuV) was initiated as an internally supported project by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Software Technologies Research Institute (YTE).
With the project, it is aimed to plan Big Data policies, which is one of the innovative approaches, for the public sector and to develop new public services in line with the developed policies and to improve the provision of existing services, to achieve public benefit in the field of Digital State (d-Government) and to carry out a pioneering work to create new employment areas in the IT sector.
The spread of information and communication technologies (ICT) to all areas of life leads to the generation of large volumes of digital data, and in order to generate economic and social benefits from rapidly increasing big data, countries and companies show great interest in this field and allocate large amounts of resources to studies in this field. It is estimated that the big data market will grow by approximately sixty percent annually in the coming years and reach 53.4 billion dollars in 2017 (Information Society Strategy, 2015-2018, 32).
In this context, the project that will serve the policies of information-based policy design, policy modeling and providing technical support to the public for the implementation of the policy, which is planned with the action of "Developing and Disseminating Big Data and Internet of Things Policies in Public Sector" in the 2016-2019 National e-Government Strategy and Action Plan, aims to achieve the following:
- Analyzing the current situation in our country and other countries,
- Establishing draft policies for big data studies in the public sector,
- Conducting workshops and pilot applications for the improvement and development of an identified public service using big data methods,
- Finalizing the draft policies in the light of the experience gained and with the participation of stakeholders in the ecosystem.
