BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - June 28, 2024
As part of the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks on Friday, June 28, we hosted Prof. Dr. Damla Turgut, Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida (UCF), with her presentation titled “Limited Sharing in Privacy-Aware Smart Environments.” Prof. Dr. Turgut discussed the development and current state of internet-connected devices.
In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Damla Turgut spoke about the role of IoT (Internet of Things) devices in daily life, their basic functions, benefits, and the threats they pose. Since smart devices record and store personal data, they represent a significant threat to users. Damla Turgut emphasized what can be done to mitigate this threat by leveraging artificial intelligence technologies.
BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - May 3, 2024
At the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM TechTalks event on Friday, May 3, the guest speaker was Abdurrahman Emre Özkök, Section Manager of the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Cyber Security Institute, who presented on “Active Cyber Defense and Cyber Security Services.” In his presentation, Özkök highlighted several topics including active cyber defense systems, network security, the activities of the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Cyber Security Institute, security analysis, and security management.
Cybersecurity is a comprehensive field and an indispensable part of our daily lives and technology. Emre Özkök explained the precautions to be taken in network usage and potential threats, drawing attention to the work done in this field, particularly in our country. He also talked about the security principles and projects pursued by the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Cyber Security Institute, where he is actively serving. In the final part of his presentation, Emre Özkök answered questions from the audience.
BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - 21 March 2024
In the event held on Thursday, 21 March within the scope of BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks, Dr. Doğa Murat Kürkçüoğlu presented the latest developments in quantum simulations focusing on scalar field theories with his presentation titled "Quantum Simulation of Scalar Field Theories in Qubit Systems".
Underlining the transition from traditional qubit-based systems to quantum simulators, Dr Kürkçüoğlu showed how this new approach can revolutionise the analysis and understanding of quantum systems. Dr Kürkçüoğlu demonstrated how these simulations are integral to experiments and particle detection, signalling a significant leap forward in complex scientific research.
Drawing attention to the efficiency and capabilities of quantum processors in his presentation, Dr Kürkçüoğlu stated that Google's Quantum Advantage success in 2019 is a testament to the rapid progress in this field. At the end of his speech, Dr Kürkçüoğlu underlined the transformative potential of quantum simulations in scalar field theories and promised to further push the boundaries of quantum computing.
BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - 8 March 2024
This week at BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks, we listened to the presentation "Lean Manufacturing and Digital Transformation in Semiconductor Technologies" by Dr. Dilek Alımlı, Project Manager at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Semiconductor Technologies Research Laboratory (YİTAL). Dr. Alımlı provided an overview of the semiconductor industry, which is essential in the development of everyday technologies such as computers, phones, and artificial intelligence applications, and discussed the efforts of major companies in the industry to enhance production efficiency and their effective outcomes.
Dr. Alımlı also shared insights into the usage and significance of the "Lean 6 Sigma" methodology in chip manufacturing, and introduced the lean manufacturing project currently underway at the YİTAL chip production line within BİLGEM. Additionally, Ömer Işık Bey, APRON Product Manager, presented the key features of the APRON Digital Twin Platform, which provides the digital production infrastructure within the project developed by BİLGEM B3Lab.
BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - 1 March 2024
Within the scope of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks, Dr. Volkan Özgüz, General Manager of Boğaziçi University Technology Transfer Office and Consultant of Semiconductor Technologies Research Laboratory (YİTAL), was our guest at the event held on Friday, March 1st at 3:00 PM.
In his presentation titled "The Past, Present and Future of Semiconductor Technologies", Dr Özgüz gave a seminal presentation on the historical development of semiconductor technology. Drawing attention to the indispensable importance of semiconductor technologies in our lives, Özgüz talked about what awaits us in the near future in this field.
As one of Türkiye's first semiconductor researchers, Dr Özgüz touched upon the history of the studies carried out in Türkiye in this field and the position of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM in this critical technology, and answered the questions of the audience after his presentation. The event was live-streamed on YouTube.
BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - 8 December 2023
TÜBİTAK BİLGEM recently hosted an important talk titled "The Present and Future of Blockchain in Türkiye" at its latest TechTalks Technology Talks event. On December 8th, Friday, Dr. Taner Dursun from the National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (UEKAE) extensively discussed the current status and future prospects of blockchain technology in Türkiye.
Dr. Dursun's presentation emphasized the critical role of blockchain technology in the process of digitization and elucidated why and how this technology is being utilized in Türkiye. Additionally, he illustrated how blockchain ensures secure transactions and provided examples of its applications in various domains.
The event continued with participants directing questions to Dr. Dursun, showing keen interest in the future of blockchain technology in Türkiye. The event was live-streamed on YouTube.
BİLGEM TechTalks Technology Talks - 24 November 2023
At the latest event of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Technology Talks, Nur Bengisu Çam, a specialist researcher at the Information Technologies Institute (BTE), delivered a presentation titled "Productive Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models." The presentation, which began at 14:00 on Friday, November 24th, provided detailed insights into the functioning of large language models and the development process of productive artificial intelligence.
Nur Bengisu Çam's presentation not only explained the fundamental principles of large language models but also shared the latest developments in this field with the participants. Particularly, detailed information was provided about the research conducted by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM on the Turkish Large Language Model.
The final part of the presentation featured an interactive question-and-answer session where listeners could inquire about topics of their interest. The event was live-streamed on YouTube.
