The Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem 2024 Call, coded 1711-YZE-2024, which was launched last year in Türkiye to meet the needs of organizations and promote the use of artificial intelligence in problem-solving, received great interest. Under this call, various projects in areas such as Smart Manufacturing Systems, Smart Agriculture, Food and Livestock, Financial Technologies, Climate Change Effects, and Smart Education Technologies are being supported by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Artificial Intelligence Institute (YZE).
Within this scope, contributions are being made to projects addressing issues in many sectors, including automotive, chemistry, and energy. These projects aim to perform routine and repetitive tasks more quickly and easily through artificial intelligence and robotic process automation (RPA).
Thanks to the project “Design of an AI-Based Pollen Classification Machine in Beekeeping,” realized through university-industry collaboration, the pollen collected by bees can now be classified by color. This project, conducted in cooperation between Ankara University, Yıldırım Plastik, and VITEX Honey Alinda Beekeeping, uses artificial intelligence to accelerate the classification process by tenfold.
With artificial intelligence algorithms, the project, which reduces the sorting process that would take days to just a few hours by creating datasets, stands out as one of the successful projects supported under the 1711-YZE-2024 Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem 2024 Call. Additionally, it is noteworthy for being the first project in the world to use artificial intelligence technology in this field.
