5G-MOBIX (5G for Cooperative & Connected Automated Mobility on X-border corridors) is a project realized as the European Union Horizon 2020 Project. Its main goal is to develop automated vehicle functions using innovations such as low latency and high bandwidth provided by 5G technology and advanced artificial intelligence techniques.
The project was carried out with 59 partners from 10 countries. Trial fields were created in six different countries and the technologies were previewed. In two different border crossing corridors, the borders of Spain-Portugal and Turkey-Greece, the technologies developed within the scope of the project were demonstrated with various usage scenarios.
Your institution has been involved in the screenings on the Turkey-Greece border crossing corridor. He worked with domestic partners Ford Otosan, Turkcell and Ericsson TR in this field. On the Greek side, organizations such as Cosmote, WINGS and Ericsson GR took place. Studies in this area were completed under the leadership of Turkish-Greek partners and with the support of other partners, and four main usage scenarios were successfully realized.
In the "TIR Routing" usage scenario you are in and you are developing, a TIR directed to the X-Ray TIR Scanning building located in the Ipsala Customs Area, autonomously entering and exiting the building has been successfully completed. In this way, it has been shown that the driver saves the time lost while leaving and picking up his vehicle. In addition, the application, which is being developed within the scope of other projects of our Institution, automatically analyzed the scan images obtained and returned the results. In this way, more trucks and X-Rays could be scanned daily, saving time and increasing border security.
Other usage scenarios to be implemented in the field include platooning of vehicles, live high-definition image transmission from the vehicle in front to the vehicle behind (See What I See) and other auxiliary scenarios for fast and safe transactions at the customs area. These targets have been successfully completed and the 5G-MOBIX Project has successfully achieved the planned targets.
